Statement
I’m interested in the depth of our world that is only seen when we take a moment to slow down, step in, and take a closer look at the beauty that surrounds us every day. A change in perspective that brings appreciation to the complexity of the natural world that often goes unnoticed in our fast-paced lives. Looking at forms such as fungi, lichen, and patterns within tree bark, I’m creating work that calls for close inspection to fully appreciate. Focusing on depth and detail, as well as abstracting familiar forms to emulate the sense of wonder and curiosity that I feel when looking closely at the details in nature around me. Along with the complexity of form, I’m looking at relationships, connections, and symbiosis between and within living beings in the natural world.
